Single Storey Rear Extension, Decking and Bathroom & Kitchen Refurbishment
The first stage of this project was to refurbish the main bathroom and en-suite, the old suites, wall and floor finishes were removed, plumbing work altered to accommodate the revised layout, new plasterboard and tiling board were installed and plastering work completed. A tiling layout was agreed with the client and a combination of ceramic and porcelain tiles were installed with stainless steel trims and mosaic boarders used to give a luxury feel. New sanitary ware, built in furniture and modern digital shower mixers were fitted.
Stage two was to construct a single storey extension at the rear of the property to provide additional living space. A large aluminium bi-folding door, vaulted ceiling, Velux roof lights, led downlights and large format porcelain tiles give this space a modern and contemporary look. Built in blockwork with a rendered exterior finish. Due to the position of the first-floor windows and the steel lintel above the bi-fold door a light weight low roof pitch interlocking slate roofing system was required.
Stage three was to replace the ageing kitchen and update the utility room, the new layout was designed to meet the client’s family needs. This kitchen/utility room refit required a new electrical installation and existing pipework to be modified before the new units could be fitted. The new units were fitted and composite stone worktops were installed.
The final stage was to landscape the garden. To begin we had to remove a large amount of soil from the sloping garden to allow us to build a sleeper retaining wall and a frame for the decking. Balau hardwood decking boards were chosen by client for longevity and an opulent feel.
